Private charter or shared tour?

It is not the same trip with fewer people. The route, the food, the pace and the price all differ, and sometimes the shared tour is the right call.

Shared tours add shore-lunch extras: a family of eight typically spends USD 80–120 on drinks and sides that are included on a private day.

A shared day loses about 70 minutes to boarding, landing, kit and buffet queues. A private day loses none.

A shared tour gets 60 minutes at Crystal Bay. On a private day, stay 90 or 120 if the water is good.

Shared days tend to leave people tired; private days usually leave them energised, because the pace is theirs.

Six or more guests and a day that matters: book private. One to four guests and a casual sampler: book shared.

In between, around five guests on a mid budget, a premium shared tier with a smaller group, about USD 130 a head, is usually the better answer.
