Bali Boat Charter Private Day Curated — From Sanur and Benoa to Lembongan, Penida and Tanah Lot
What is a Bali private boat charter?
A Bali private boat charter is a chartered private vessel — typically a 38–72 foot sport yacht, 50ft catamaran, or 80ft phinisi schooner — for whole-boat hire from Sanur or Benoa harbour for day trips to Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Penida, or Tanah Lot. You and your guests are the only passengers on board; the captain and crew are dedicated to your itinerary for the contracted hours, and the vessel does not pick up additional bookings during your day. Pricing in 2026 sits between USD 950 and USD 4,800 per day depending on vessel length, vessel class, fuel range, and chef inclusion.
This page is the operating page for that service. It documents what we charter, the day routes we run, what is included by default, what we add as upgrades, the cost bands you should expect, and the booking flow. Read it once front-to-back and you will know enough to brief us in five minutes by email or WhatsApp.
The curated day-charter offer
Bali Boat Charter Private Atelier curates whole-day private vessel hire across three vessel families and three core route patterns out of two principal harbours. We do not own the boats — we maintain a vetted partner fleet of independent captains and operators in Benoa Marina, Serangan Harbour, and Sanur Beach, and we book you onto whichever vessel best matches your group, date, and route on the day requested. That is the headline difference between us and a single-boat operator: we sell vessel fit, not vessel availability, and we hold no inventory pressure to push you onto a hull that is wrong for your group.
Vessel fleet — the three classes we charter
Sport yachts (38–72ft monohull)
Modern fibreglass motor yachts in the Princess, Sunseeker, Azimut, and Sea Ray families. Air-conditioned saloon, two-to-three cabins, swim platform, water toys (paddleboard, snorkel kit, occasionally Seabob). Cruise speed 22–26 knots — the fastest way to Penida and back inside a day. Capacity: 6–14 guests depending on length. Day rate 2026: USD 1,400–4,800.
Power and sailing catamarans (45–60ft)
Twin-hull cats including Lagoon, Bali Catamarans, Sunreef, and Leopard. Wide saloon, forward trampoline lounger, separate hulls for cabin privacy, exceptional stability in beam seas. Cruise speed 9–14 knots under sail or twin diesel. Capacity 8–14 guests for day use. Day rate 2026: USD 1,200–3,400.
Phinisi schooners (60–100ft traditional wood)
Sulawesi-built two-masted wooden schooners converted for guest charter. Teak deck, traditional rigging, full-beam aft saloon. Cruise speed 6–9 knots — slower, but the boat itself is the experience. Capacity 8–18 day guests. Day rate 2026: USD 1,800–4,200.

How we choose your vessel
When you brief us, we ask seven quick questions: group size, age range, dates, route preference (Lembongan, Penida, or Tanah Lot), motion-sickness history, dietary restrictions, and budget envelope. We then run those answers against the partner fleet calendar for your dates, present a shortlist of 2–3 vessels with vessel photos, captain credentials, and honest trade-offs (e.g. the 50ft Sunseeker is faster but the 50ft catamaran is more stable for your nervous mother-in-law). You pick. We confirm with the operator, take a 30% deposit by bank transfer or card, and you receive a written itinerary with crew names within 24 hours.
Cancellation and weather policy
Standard policy: 60 days prior — full refund less USD 80 admin. 30 days prior — 50% refund. 14 days prior — 25% refund. Inside 14 days — no refund unless operator-cancelled for weather. Captain holds final weather authority on the day of charter. If the captain cancels for sea state or the harbourmaster closes Benoa, you receive a full refund or a free reschedule within 12 months. We do not run vessels in conditions our partner captains will not run.
The partner fleet — named vessels we work with
Our partner fleet currently spans around 24 vessels across Benoa Marina, Serangan Harbour, and Sanur Beach. We rotate listings every quarter as captains change boats and operators refit. The named vessels we work with most often:
- Sanchaya — 55ft Lagoon catamaran, 12 day guests, full chef galley, based Benoa
- Adelaar — 65ft Princess sport yacht, 14 day guests, three cabins, flybridge, based Benoa
- Sayang Damai — 80ft phinisi schooner, 16 day guests, traditional rig, in service since 2019, based Sanur
- Kuda Laut — 50ft Sunseeker sport yacht, 10 day guests, two cabins, based Benoa
- Cendrawasih — 70ft phinisi schooner, 14 day guests, large aft dining table, based Sanur
We do not hold exclusive contracts. When you book through us, you receive the best-fit vessel for your day, not whichever vessel an operator is pushing to fill that week. If your assigned vessel hits a service issue 24 hours out, we reshuffle you onto an equivalent in our fleet at no extra cost — a contingency safety net no single-boat operator can match.
How our captains and crew are vetted
Every vessel in our partner fleet operates with a captain holding a current Indonesian Sea Marine Department (Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Laut) commercial passenger licence, minimum 5 years documented sea time on Bali waters, and a recent (within 24 months) bridge resource management refresher. Crew minimums: each vessel carries a captain, first mate, deckhand, and either a stewardess or chef depending on size. All crew complete annual safety drills covering man-overboard, fire on board, abandon ship, and medical emergency. We audit operator paperwork annually — insurance, manifest, marine-park access permits, harbourmaster sign-off — and any operator failing the audit is dropped from our fleet without negotiation.
Logistics — what your day looks like end-to-end
Once your booking is confirmed and the deposit cleared, we send a pre-charter pack 7 days out: vessel name and photos, captain CV, crew first names, full itinerary with timing tolerances, lunch menu, packing list (swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, light jacket for return leg, motion-sickness preventative if needed), pickup driver name and vehicle plate. The morning of the charter, the driver phones you 30 minutes before pickup. At Benoa, the captain meets you at the marina gate; security wave-through is pre-arranged. Boarding takes 10 minutes including safety brief. The vessel casts off on your nominal time, not the operator’s preferred time.
Photography and memory capture
Every charter receives a basic stills service from the deckhand — phone-camera shots of the day delivered via AirDrop or WeTransfer the same evening. For premium memory capture, our drone-and-stills photographer upgrade puts a professional photographer on board for 3 hours during the day, delivering an edited 60-image gallery within 24 hours. Drone footage is captured in 4K and includes 2–3 set-piece shots — vessel cruising over Crystal Bay, hero couple shot at anchor, and a sunset silhouette pull-back. The upgrade is USD 480 and the most-booked single add-on across our calendar.
Sustainability and marine-park practice
We run our charters within the Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area regulations — anchoring on permitted moorings, no fin-touch contact with manta rays at the cleaning station, no crew or guest feeding of marine life, reef-safe sunscreen on board for guest use, and full waste containment back to Benoa shore facilities (no overboard discharge). We pay the official marine-park entry fee per guest into the village conservation fund rather than independently. Our partner captains brief every guest at boarding on the marine-park rules; we have terminated partnerships with two operators who failed to comply over the last three years.
Group celebrations and special days
Many of our charters are anniversary, honeymoon, milestone birthday, proposal, or family-reunion celebrations. We have a celebration upgrade pack: floral arrangement on the saloon table (tropical, not roses), personalised cake from the chef, sparkling wine on ice at boarding, hand-lettered itinerary card, and a brief pre-cruise call from us to capture any hidden requirements (favourite music for sunset, dietary preference for the celebrant, photo subjects to prioritise). The celebration pack adds USD 280 to any charter and is included free with phinisi bookings over USD 3,400.
