What to pack for a day or a week at sea

Around 27 °C and 80% humidity all year. Pack light, breathable and sun-proof, with something respectful for going ashore.

The list

Tick it off as you pack.

Clothing

  • Linen or cotton shirts and trousers
  • Light dresses or shorts
  • A sarong or pareo
  • One smarter outfit for dinner on deck
  • Soft-soled shoes or sandals (most guests go barefoot on deck)

Sun and water

  • Reef-safe sunscreen, SPF 50+
  • A UPF rash guard for snorkelling
  • Sunglasses and a hat with a chin strap
  • Quick-dry swimwear, two sets
  • Your own mask or dive computer, if you dive

Going ashore

  • Shoulders and knees covered for temples
  • A scarf or shawl
  • Long shorts or light trousers for men
  • Walking sandals for beach paths

Tech

  • Waterproof phone case or action camera
  • Power bank and a universal adaptor
  • A dry bag
  • A drone only with the right permits

Health

  • Prescription medication, with copies
  • Motion-sickness remedy, even if you rarely need it
  • Insect repellent with DEET or picaridin
  • Plasters and antiseptic wipes

Documents and money

  • Passport valid six months beyond your stay
  • Copies of passport, insurance and itinerary
  • Travel insurance
  • A card, and cash for the crew gratuity

Ashore and on board

Temples

Sarongs are often provided at the gate, but bring a scarf for your shoulders.

On deck

Most guests go barefoot. Leave hard-soled shoes in the bag to protect the teak.

Provided

Towels, snorkel kit, drinking water and reef-safe sunscreen are on board, so you need not pack them.
